Blue Diamond Almond Milk

Hello!

After double checking the ingredients, Blue Diamond Almond Milk is not SCD approved. Unfortunately, it has evaporated cane juice (fancy word for added sugar) as well as carrageenan, which is an illegal ingredient. These are VERY common in most commercial alternative milks. We have yet to find one that is completely safe and recommend making your own. There is a video for this under resources, as well as a recipe in our recipe database.

  1. We were discussing the Blue Diamond Unsweetened Vanilla flavored Almond milk, not any of the other types. If you can check that one out please let us know what you think.

    • Hi Laura!

Thanks for your response and for pointing that out. I just checked the ingredients online for the unsweetened original and vanilla flavor and they include:

      Original
Ingredients: almondmilk (filtered water, almonds), calcium carbonate, tapioca starch, sea salt, potassium citrate, carrageenan, sunflower lecithin, natural flavor, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2 and d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin e).

      Vanilla
Ingredients: almondmilk (filtered water, almonds), calcium carbonate, tapioca starch, natural vanilla flavor with other natural flavors, sea salt, potassium citrate, carrageenan, sunflower lecithin, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2 and d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin e).

Let me know if the item you have is still different from these ingredients.

Unfortunately, even in the original, the main concerns are tapioca starch and carrageenan.

Here are the links to brief explanations as to why these ingredients aren’t allowed.

Hopefully we can find a brand soon that is SCD legal. In the meantime, making almond milk at home is going to be the safest route.

      Thank you,
      Leta

  2. One one of the Whole Foods grocery stores near me sells raw almond milk. they make it there in their store every morning and they even make vanilla almond milk. It has no other added ingredients and they sell it in a glass bottle. 🙂 not all of the stores make their own but it is worth a shot for you all to ask the store near you! I love the vanilla almond milk that they make.
